The Pratt Police Department, Pratt County Health Department, and Doug Reh Chevrolet are hosting a SAFE KIDS Child Safety Seat event on Saturday, May 21 from 9 a.m. to noon.  This is an annual event that is well worth your time if you transport children in your vehicle.

Certified technicians will be on hand to check that you are using a seat that is appropriate for your child and that it’s installed correctly in your vehicle. There will be supervision and entertainment provided for the kids since, depending on corrections that need to be made, the process might take some time.

Installing a car seat may sound like an easy thing to do but if you’ve ever tried to do it you know what a challenge it can be.  At every event technicians are able to spot and fix problems with car seats. This is a great time to ask questions and make sure parents know how to install their child’s seat. It is important that the owner of the child seat feel confident putting that seat in their vehicle.

With changes in vehicle design, seat design and safety recommendations it’s sometimes hard for parents to know the best way to keep their child safe.  Child Passenger Seat Technicians are required to stay current on all these changes.

This is definitely a community event. The Pilot Club and Kiwanis Club will be involved and the Lions Club will be there giving train rides.

It is the goal of everyone involved in this event to see that every child is safe every time they ride in a vehicle.
