After winning their first playoff game in seven seasons, the Pratt Community College Beaver baseball team continued its feel-good ending to the long season with the league’s announcement of two Beavers to the all-conference teams.

Sophomore infielder Matt Burns was named a unanimous first-team All-Conference selection at second base by the Jayhawk West Conference coaches.  Freshman relief pitcher Junior Mustain was an honorable mention selection to the squad.

Burns, a DeRidder, La., native, hit .352 with 42 runs scored, 15 doubles, four triples, one homerun, and 24 stolen bases. Burns played second base, shortstop, and left field for the Beavers this spring. He was named the Jayhawk Conference Player of the Week on May 1 for a week that included reaching base in 13-straight plate appearances in a series with Colby Community College and hitting for the cycle against Brown Mackie College.

Mustain, a Camdenton, Mo., native, was the Beavers’ top relief pitcher this season. Mustain held down a 2.65 ERA, a record of 4-3 with four saves, and struck out 38 batters. Mustain’s 51 innings pitched was second on the Pratt pitching staff.
