Donald Stewart Kleiman, 81, died Dec. 20, 2011, at his home in Iuka. He was born Jan. 1, 1930, at Evansville, Ind., to Albert and Thelma Stewart Kleiman. He retired from the U.S. Air Force with 20 years of service. After his retirement he lived in Iuka for more than 40 years and worked for the Kansas Department of Transportation for many years.


Donald Stewart Kleiman, 81, died Dec. 20, 2011, at his home in Iuka. He was born Jan. 1, 1930, at Evansville, Ind., to Albert and Thelma Stewart Kleiman. He retired from the U.S. Air Force with 20 years of service. After his retirement he lived in Iuka for more than 40 years and worked for the Kansas Department of Transportation for many years.

On July 8, 1953, he married Mary Helsel at Preston. She survives.

Other survivors include: three daughters, Diana Krehbiel and husband Jerry, Kingman, Cheryl Eckhoff and husband Mark, Pratt, and Enola Williams and husband Ralph, Langdon; a brother, Daniel Kleiman, Evansville, Ind., two sisters, Vivian Hasick, Texas, and Lavon Nerhaus, Evansville; nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Bonnie Pickenpaugh.

A private family burial service will be held at Iuka Cemetery, with the Rev. Mike McGovney presiding.
