Mae E. Millen, daughter of Daniel McKeon and Goldie (Greer) McKeon, was born Sept. 13, 1920 in Horton, KS, and passed away Dec. 26, 2011 at the Ellsworth County Medical Center, Ellsworth, at the age of 91.


Mae E. Millen, daughter of Daniel McKeon and Goldie (Greer) McKeon, was born Sept. 13, 1920 in Horton, KS, and passed away Dec. 26, 2011 at the Ellsworth County Medical Center, Ellsworth, at the age of 91.

At the age of five, Mae moved with her family from Horton to Amarillo, Texas and at the age of ten they moved to Dalhart, Texas. She attended both the Amarillo and Dalhart Schools, graduated from Dalhart in 1937. Mae attended cosmetology school and practiced her trade for 63 years.

Mae married Vincent L. Enfield in Raton, N.M. on June 8, 1940. To this union four children were born, Carolyn, Larry, Dannie, and Gary. They made their home in Dalhart, Texas, until 1956 when they moved to Pratt. Vincent passed away Dec. 17, 1976. Mae later married Joe Millen in Pratt on April 26, 1969. Joe passed away on Jan. 26, 1991.

Mae was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Pratt, and taught Sunday School for many years. She was very active in many organizations, such as Fireliters Campers Assn, Coast to Coast Campers Assn, and Cub Scout leader. She moved to Ellsworth in December 2000 and became a member of the Assembly of God Church Dec. 10, 2006.

Survivors include daughter Carolyn and husband Bill Graves, Ellsworth; sons Larry and wife Vicki, Norton, Dannie and wife Jane, Omaha, Neb., and Gary, Wichita; stepsons Richard Millen, Topeka, Lynn Millen, Canyon City, Colo., and Bob Millen and wife Cathy, Pratt; stepdaughters Sharon and husband Fred Sumner, Avondale, Ariz., and Christi and husband Bob Norman, Burlington; nine grandchildren, 12 step-grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; 11 step-great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Vincent and Joe, three sisters and one brother.

Visitation will be 1-8 pm, Wednesday at Parsons Funeral Home, Ellsworth, with family present 6-8 pm.

Funeral service will be held 10 am, Thursday at the Assembly of God Church, Ellsworth. Burial will follow at 3 p.m., at the Greenlawn Cemetery, Pratt.
