  • T-Wolves ground Thunderbirds

  • It didn't take a wizard to see this one coming. South Central was certainly the favorite going into the game, sporting two blowout wins in a home game against a young Skyline team that had failed to reach the winner's circle in either of it's previous outings.
The Timberwolves controlled the game from the outset, and put the Thunderbirds away in run-rule fashion, 48-0.

"We came out kind of flat," Skyline head coach Jon Novotny observed, "and they smacked us right in the mouth."
The one chance the Thunderbirds had for a victory was to control the ball, win the time of possession battle and keep South Central's potent offense off the field as much as possible.
But it was not to be. Skyline was only able to manage 62 yards of total offense on the evening. Brandon Baird only had 25 yds.
"We couldn't get the offense untracked," Novotny admitted. "We had to punt the ball away too many times."
And they had to punt it into the hands of the Timberwolves who knew exactly what to do with it.
South Central put up 190 yards rushing and 150 yards passing in the first half to build themselves a 48-0 lead at the break and that's where the game ended.
Timberwolf QB Stetson Underwood had three long touchdown passes and RB Cody Lindsay had his way with the Skyline defense.
"He (Lindsay) ran through 3 or 4 tackles on his touchdown runs," Novotny explained. "We'd hit him, but he just wouldn't go down."
"They didn't do anything tricky," Novotny continued. "They didn't do anything we didn't expect. They just performed at a higher level than we did."
With the loss, Skyline drops to 0-3 on the season, 0-2 in league.
Next Friday the Skyline Thunderbirds return home to host the Otis-Bison Cougars. Look for complete stats on the Timberwolf game online next week.
