Sunday evening, Sept. 30 at 6 p.m., the Pratt Free Methodist Church, 1024 Maple, will be hosting a concert with A.G. and Kate Buining.
The Buinings are originally from Holland and tour extensively in the U.K. as well as the United States. Their style of music is acoustic Southern Gospel and Bluegrass. Since they began touring in 1978 they have played at the Wembley and Peterborough Festivals in the U.K., and they have appeared at the Grand Ole Opry, the Ozark Folk Center, as well as the Perkins School of Theology, and Asbury Seminary.
In 1989 A.G. and Kate began a prison ministry in England and since that time their ministry has led them to around 110 prison concerts each year. The Buinings have released 3 mini LPs, 13 LPs, 23 cassettes, and 14 CDs. They have also published several books with collections of Wesley Hymns, and conduct a weekly radio program in West Virginia and Virginia.
A.G. plays the guitar and the autoharp, while Kate plays the guitar, the 5-string banjo and the mountain dulcimer, and they both sing.
This concert is open to the public and a free will offering will be provided to help with expenses. Following the concert refreshments will be provided.
