Jay D. Blankenship, 61, died Sunday, Oct. 7, 2012, at South Wind Hospice Home in Pratt. He was born Nov. 26, 1950, in Pratt, the son of Donal Daniel "Dan" and Patsy Ruth Harzman Blankenship. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War.

On July 4, 1998, he married Judy Depperschmidt at Pratt. She survives.

Other survivors include a son Justin (Vel) Blankenship, Irvine, Calif.; three daughters Angela (John) Binford, Halfway, Ore., Jennifer White, Tonkawa, Okla., and Shiloa Blankenship, Pratt; three stepchildren, Renee Burton, Topeka, Kodie Park, Pratt, and Mandy Huntley, Great Bend; two brothers, Bradley (Brenda) Blankenship, and Donal P. (Carol) Blankenship, both of Pratt; a sister, Kathy (Al) Adams, Moreno Valley, Calif.; five grandchildren and seven step-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Nancy Fry.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday at Larrison Mortuary, 300 Country Club Rd., Pratt. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 13 at the mortuary with military honors provided by the U.S. Air Force Honor Guard. Cremation will follow service.
