  • Greenbacks volleyball splits at Valley Center

  • The Pratt volleyball team traveled to Valley Center on Tuesday to finish regular season play. Goddard rounded out the triangular. In the first match Pratt took on the 4th-ranked Valley Center Hornets. The first set was a back and forth battle, Valley eventually winning it 25-19. Recently the Greenbacks have had trouble with their service reception and it cost them the second match. Poorly passed balls kept the Greenbacks from mounting a consistent attack and momentum was squarely in the Hornets corner, winning the second set and match, 25-9.
    The Goddard Lions were up next and despite a slow start; the Pratt team began to get in rhythm, defeating Goddard in the first set 25-19. From there the team took control and on strong serving by Jaci Kolm, rolled to a second-set and match victory 25-15. The Greenbacks ended the regular season with a 26-10 record. They will begin post-season play on Saturday at the Ulysses 4A Sub-state.
    The Pratt JV volleyball team ended their season on the road at Valley Center. Starting the night with g a rough game and a new rotation they couldn’t get pas the Valley Center Hornets. The Greenbacks lost to a difficult Valley Center team, 8-25 and 12-25.
    Next the Greenbacks took on Goddard Lions. The team played with confidence and metal toughness taking the Lions in three games. After losing the first game 20-25 the team fought back and won the second and third game, 25-21 and 15-4. As the season comes to an end the Greenback JV team went 21-8 overall. They had a very successful season.
