A Pratt County resident was injured in a two-vehicle accident approximately seven miles south of St. John, Friday afternoon.
The accident occurred at approximately 3:30 p.m., Friday on U.S. 281 Highway approximately four miles south of the U.S. 50 U.S. 281 intersection.
A white Dodge Caravan was southbound when it apparently went off the road on the right side then crossed left of center after returning to the roadway. The van struck a northbound Ford pickup truck.
The impact sheared off the rear wheel of the truck sending it into the East ditch where it flipped end over one time coming to rest on the driver's side.
"I saw her coming," said the driver of the truck. "I tried to avoid hitting her head on so I went for the ditch, but I didn't quite make it."
The van struck the pickup just behind the passenger side of the cab. The impact sheared off one rear wheel, bent the rear axle and ripped the leaf springs apart. Both vehicles were totaled in the crash.
The driver of the pickup was not injured in the accident. The female driver of the van was taken to Pratt Regional Medical Center with unknown injuries.
Names have not yet been released. Neither vehicle had Stafford County tags.
