Thirty-five contestants toed the mark Saturday morning at PCC for the 5K Beaver Dash sponsored by Pratt Community College track and field.
The first competitor to break the tape was PCC crosscountry runner Blake Thompson, from Haysville, in a time of 17:33.
Former Greenback and current Hutchinson Blue Dragon runner Mario Perez was runner-up in 20:12.
The first two women to finish were Pratt High senior Kaylah Romine (20:13) who was a regional champ and state medalist this past crosscountry season, and her coach Kathy Hitz (23:00).
“It was fun to line up for a race with Kaylah and Mario,” Hitz related.
The next five finishers were Pratt women: Kelly Lawton, Jennifer Ragland, Kim Howe, Natalie Clark and Diane Arensdorf.
The top 10 was rounded out by 13 year old Mikeal Ann Loiland from Macksville.
There were other youngsters in the race as well. Wiley Atteberry (4) and Brett Atteberry (7), both from Pratt, were two of the most junior competitors to complete the 5K.
8 year old Caden Fisher of Sawyer was the highest finishing pre-teen at 20th.
