The Liberty Middle School 8th grade boys’ basketball team got the season off to a good start Monday by downing Andale 34-13.
Up 20-2 at halftime, the Greenback middlers coasted through the second half to come away with a convincing win over the outmanned Andales.
“We were very effective at keeping them from scoring in the paint, mostly because of our length,” LMS coach Andy Kisner explained. “Traik Peltier, Samson Kohman, and Bryce Stegman controlled the paint out of our 2-3 zone.”
“Noah Myers, Hunter Kaufman, and Cade Perez were very quick out front and were effective in speeding them up and creating turnovers,” Kisner continued. “We did see several possessions of full court pressure, which we handled pretty easily, mostly because of our athletic ability, so we have some work to do with our press offense. Also, we didn’t see any zone in this game, something which teams will show us a lot of in the future in order to stop us inside and force some outside shooting. We will need to have that part of our offense ready for future games.”
LMS plays at St. Marks next Monday, gametime 4:30.
