Laura "Maxine" Martin, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, died Friday, Nov. 16, 2012 at her home in Pratt. She was born Jan. 6, 1929 in Tionesta, Pa.

Maxine is a U.S. Army Veteran, serving during 1958, having attained the rank of RCT(P). She was the president of the The Baton Marching Corps, The Conquistadors of Sharon, Pa., for many years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles P. Martin Jr.; her parents, Florence Sibble Koch and Harold "Pete" Wiles; brothers, Robert Blume and Karl Emil Koch; and a sister, Shirley Wiles Stafford.

After the death of her husband she raised her four children alone, working at General Motors Fisher Body in Lordstown, Ohio, and Howell Industries in Masury, Ohio, before moving her family to San Diego to care for her elderly mother.

Survivors include her daughters, Kathy Martin Provance and husband Fred, Corpus Christi, Texas, Phyllis (Cody) Martin Rainer and husband Jim, Lancaster, Ohio; her sons, John Martin and wife Michele, Pratt, and Michael Martin and wife Beth, Escondido, Calif.; a brother, James P. Koch, San Marcus, Calif.; eight grandchildren, Jamie Lynn Provance, Nicole Provance Moore and husband Heath, Lindsay Martin Tucker and husband Mike, Heather Martin Adams, and husband Mike, Kimberly Rainer, Lacey Rainer Slack and husband Kyle, Crystal Martin, Frederick Provance III, and nine great-grandchildren.

Cremation has taken place. Her wishes were to have a private ceremony with family.
