The Pratt Community College basketball teams each played a pair of games over the weekend, and both teams split.
The Lady Beavers played in the Coffeyville Tournament. On Friday night, they dropped their first contest of the season, a 65-57 loss to the host Red Ravens in overtime.
They then took the third place game on Saturday night, blasting Labette County 61-40.
The men took a road trip to Oklahoma, first beating Redlands in a wild one, 90-85, before bowing to Northern Oklahoma-Tonkawa 51-39.
In the Coffeyville game, the Lady Beavers were up 31-23 at halftime, but a Coffeyville 3-pointer with 8 seconds remaining sent the game into overtime.
In the extra frame, the Red Ravens outscored PCC 15-7 to post their first victory of the season.
Hayli Smith had 17 points to pace the Lady Beavers and Hannah Mehl added 11. Maddie Pendry and Tatiana Grant each chipped in 9.
PCC outrebounded Coffeyville 46-43, but the Lady Beavers committed 9 more turnovers than the Red Ravens. Coffeyville was also hotter from behind the arc, scoring 21 points off the trifecta to just 9 for Pratt.
The consolation final was a convincing win for the Pratt women, the outcome never much in doubt as the Lady Beavers thoroughly thumped the Labettes 61-40.
At 6-1, the women will travel to Lamar on Tuesday for their final pre-Thanksgiving action.
The PCC men won their second in a row, defeating Redlands 90-85 in a high-scoring affair.
Hopeful of avenging their only loss on the season to date, a 57-55 setback last Saturday at the Beaver Dome, the Beavers next called on Northern Oklahoma-Tonkawa.
It was not to be, however, as the Mavericks bested PCC for the second time in a week, this time 51-39. The men are now 5-2, with both losses coming at the hands of the Tonkawa Mavericks..
They are off until after Thanksgiving when they take on the Sterling JV at home, Thursday the 27th.
