Pratt Community Concert Association brings song and dance duo Two on Tap to Pratt the evening of Monday, Dec. 3. The show begins at 7 p.m. at Floyd Carpenter Auditorium at Pratt Community College.
Two on Tap marks the creative collaboration of two celebrated musical theater performers, Melissa Giattino and Ron DeStefano. They feature melodies from Broadway's early days, along with the classic precision of tap choreography. The show is entitled, "A Tribute to Song and Dance," and is reminiscent of iconic song and dance couples such as Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers. They promise lots of audience favorites from the Tin Pan Alley times — "Yes Sir, That's My Baby" and "If You Knew Susie Like I Know Susie..."
Both these performers have spectacular Broadway careers in addition to their Two on Tap tours, according to Allied Concert Services, with whom PCCA contracts its shows.
Giattino began her professional performing career when she was 17 in the national tour of "A Chorus Line." While appearing in the Gershwin musical "Crazy For You" at the famous Walnut Street Theater in Philadelphia, she auditioned successfully for the Hal Prince/Susan Stroman West End production of "Show Boat." She made her Broadway debut as an original revival cast member of the tap-dancing spectacular "42nd Street."
DeStafano has an international performance career with appearances in cabaret venues in New York City and many of Europe's lavish opera houses. Originally from South Florida, DeStafano spent his college years balancing classical vocal performance studies at Florida State with professional roles at Seaside Music Theater in Daytona Beach. Following graduation, he soon found himself auditioning for the Broadway stage with an appearance in the Tony Award winning musical "Evita."
Two on Tap's fine piano accompanist will also be featured from time to time, playing piano standards of the era. What a wonderful way to take a trip down memory lane, Allied notes.
Individual tickets will be available at the door.
