  • The Liberty Middle School 7th graders narrowly missed coming up with their first win of the season, falling to Kingman 33-21. LMS8 continued their pristine season, dropping the Kingmans 49-33.
Trailing only 23-20 going into the 4th quarter, and having gained some momentum during the third frame, it looked as though LMS7 might be in position to break into the winning column, but it was not to be. A cold shooting 4th quarter saw LMS7 get outscored 10-1 down the stretch to send them to yet another defeat, 33-21.
Landen Studer had a big game from his point guard spot, scoring 15 points. Elijah Gatlin added 6.
The LMS 8th graders continued to run roughshod over the opposition. Although up only 3 at halftime, the Greenbacks rode a 19-2 advantage in the 3rd quarter to another convincing victory, 49-33 over rival Kingman.
“We got off to a slow start,” LMS head coach Andy Kisner commented. “I thought that might be the case after playing at a high level in our big game against St. Mark’s. We came out just a little slow and not sharp mentally.”
“We were sharper in the second half,” Kisner continued, “And in the 3rd quarter we were able to get into transition off our press for some easy baskets.” The big 3rd quarter allowed Kisner to play the bench in the 4th quarter.
The Liberty Middle Schoolers are off until after the holidays when they will finish up with a game against Colwich and then the league tourney.
