The calendar year 2012 was undoubtedly one of the best overall in Pratt High School history.
The year 2011-2012 was a special one for Pratt High School basketball. For the first time in school history, the girls and boys teams were both regional champions and earned berths at the state tournament. The girls were knocked out in the first round and the boys ended up 4th.
During the regular season, the girls’ team was state ranked for most of the season, and won their own Tournament of Champions for only the second time in school history. Aubrey Hoover received numerous post-season honors, including 2nd team 4A all-state.
The boys’ team was undefeated in the regular season, going 20-0. Along the way, they were named CKL champs. Micah Swank rewrote the PHS basketball record book and received numerous post-season awards of his own.
Greenback fans will no doubt long remember and extol the accomplishments of both the girls and boys basketball teams of 2011-2012—without a doubt the finest overall season for Pratt High School basketball in its history.
The Pratt High School track team had an outstanding season, with the girls team earning the third place trophy at the state meet. Seniors Aubrey Hoover (hurdles), Dominique Staats (middle distance) and Cheyenne Becker (distance) paced the Greenbacks at state while soph Jenson Maydew (throws) contributed points as well. Payson Maydew placed in hurdles at state for the PHS boys.
Pratt High School had four wrestlers who were CKL champions, and those same four also made appearances at state.
Cesar Regalado was 3rd at state, Mitchell Baird went 2-2 at state, Kasey Crump was also 3rd at state, and Austin Gates went 2-2 at the state tournament.
