  • Pratt High School’s girls basketball team took on the Macksville Mustangs Friday night at their place. The Lady Greenbacks were rather rude guests, utterly routing their hosts by a lopsided 78-23 count.
The Frogs romped to a 26-7 1st quarter lead, and never looked back.
Outscoring their opponents in every quarter, the Greenbacks simply ran away with the game. Pratt played with energy and basically just enforced their will on the overmatched Mustangs.
“They had no answer for Payton (Hoeme) and Jenson (Maydew) inside,” explained Greenback head coach Dean Rausch. “We got ahead by getting the ball inside to our bigs, and that got everybody loosened up to where everyone was hitting shots.”
The Macksvilles had trouble offensively against the vastly taller Pratt girls, the Frogs’ wingspan making the lane a virtual black hole for the outsized Lady Mustangs.
On the perimeter, Pratt’s defensive pressure resulted in numerous steals, and often the Greenbacks were able to convert in transition.
10 Frogs saw playing time and all10 Frogs scored. Reserves got most of the minutes after intermission and the 4th quarter running clock put an early end to the proceedings, Pratt claiming the 78-23 win.
It was the third one-sided win in a row for the Lady Greenbacks, giving them momentum heading into next week’s Tournament of Champions where Pratt will be the third seed and draw Larned  in the opening round, Thursday at 8 p.m.
