It might have been a trap game for the Lady Greenbacks, coming off a grinding Thursday-Friday-Saturday stretch in the TOC and then going up against an opponent they had previously dispatched easily—but it wasn’t.
Although giving what might at best be described as a workmanlike effort, the Pratt girls basketball team once again humbled the Kingman Lady Eagles, this time by a 42-22 count. Although not delivering as serious a whipping to the Kingmans as they had earlier in the year (48-16), the Frogs won nonetheless.
PHS took the mystery out of the proceedings early on, using their patented combination of defense and balanced offense to take a 12-3 lead by the 3 minute mark of the opening stanza. The defense was either blocking shots on the inside or forcing turnovers on the perimeter and converting into transition baskets.
The Greenbacks looked to get the ball inside to their bigs (Payton Hoeme, Jenson Maydew), and if Kingman doubled down on the post, one of the guards would nail a bucket or a three-ball (Amy Olson, Hailey Hook.) It was a devastating combination that Kingman could not answer.
With the big lead, Pratt coasted throughout the balance of the contest and came away with the 42-22 win. At 9-5, PHS continues CKL action Friday at Nickerson.
