  • Bob J. Eastes, born Aug. 16, 1931, retired from this life Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013, the son of Russell C. and Thelma (Lehr) Eastes. He attended Pratt High School, Pratt Junior College, Emporia State University, and Northwestern Oklahoma State University, finishing with a Masters in Education.
    He married Jo Ann Hilton June 24, 1951. That union produced five children, 13 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren.
    Bob taught and coached at Nashville, Independence, Haysville, Preston, and Glendale. Ultimately, his family returned to Pratt where he resumed a grocery business at Russ' IGA and then with his brothers started the Uptown Café and Club D'Est. In the late 1980s he purchased Park Hills Country Club.
    Survivors include his wife, Jo Ann, Pratt; sons, Bobby (Becky) Eastes, Pratt, Kelly (Aleta) Eastes, Pratt, Bill (Dee Dee) Eastes, Pratt, and Eddie (Dana) Eastes, Manhattan; daughter, Susan (Matt) Lynch, Pratt; a brother Jack Eastes, Wichita; sisters, Sue (Bob) Epp, Pratt, and Dixie Mills, Wichita; 13 grandchildren, Beau (Krista) Eastes, Cody (Kari) Eastes, Josey (Jennifer) Eastes, Sysha (Josh) McGuire, Ben Eastes, Danny Lynch, Erin Lynch, Jeff Lynch, Ellie Eastes, Sam Eastes, Joel Eastes, Jake Eastes, and Ian Eastes, 10 great grandchildren.
    He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Russ "June" Eastes, and two sisters, Wanda Reed and Betty Freeman.
    Friends may sign the register book 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Thursday at Larrison Mortuary 300 Country Club Rd., Pratt. A memorial graveside service will be held on Friday at 2 p.m. at Greenlawn Cemetery, Pratt, with a gathering at Pratt County Fairgrounds to follow.
