Same story, different day for the Skyline boys basketball team. Once again the Thunderbirds found themselves on the short end of the score, this time dropping a 61-41 contest to the Attica Bulldogs.
As has been the case for most of the T-Birds games this year, Skyline had some nice stretches where they would do some good things and make a bit of a run, but their efforts were not sustained or consistent.
For example, the Thunderbirds might score a basket off their offense, then create a turnover with their defense and convert in transition to seize a bit of momentum.  Then they would get a defensive stop, but attempting to push the ball upcourt for a third unanswered score, they would boot the ball and then commit a defensive lapse allowing Attica an easy bucket— thus denying themselves any real forward progress.
Cole Patterson was in double figures for Skyline with 12, connecting for points in every quarter; Dustin Weber had 8 and Brady McComb had 8 off the bench to pace the Thunderbird scoring.
The second quarter was probably the killer for Skyline. Trailing 16-9 after the opening stanza, the T-Birds were outscored 21-11 by the Bulldogs in Q2, allowing them to open a 37-20 advantage at intermission.
The deficit increased to 53-28 heading into the final quarter. The final period saw the T-Birds avoid the running clock and even cut the gap some, but it was mostly a matter of cosmetics at that point—the issue having been decided much earlier than Q4.
With the defeat the Skyliners fall to 1-13. Friday is homecoming for the Thunderbirds as they will host Cunningham in an HOPL match-up.
