  • Five Pratt Community College wrestlers grappled their way to nationals this weekend at the Region VI West Central District Tournament held at the Dennis Lesh Sports Arena—including two former PHS Greenbacks.

  • Five Pratt Community College wrestlers grappled their way to nationals this weekend at the Region VI West Central District Tournament held at the Dennis Lesh Sports Arena—including two former PHS Greenbacks.
    As a team, Pratt narrowly missed trophying, finishing 4th with 55.5 points. The top 3 teams were Labette (125.5), Colby (73) and Neosho (57.5).
    The top 3 placers in each weight class advance to the next level. Beavers going to nationals include the following: At #141, Lucas Dutch lost in the finals to Tyler Davis of Labette to take second.  At #149, Korey Pfannenstiel downed Curtis Buelna of NW Tech to secure a bronze medal.
    Returning all-American Landon “Tug” Keiswetter was PCC’s lone regional champ, beating Colby’s Dylan Braun in an overtime match in the #184 division.
    Local Taylor Baird got the third place medal at #197, beating Christian Duckens from Neosho.  Fellow former Greenback Kasey Crump (#285) snagged a silver medal, losing in the finals to all-American Trey Page of Labette.
    Other Beavers competing at regionals included: former Greenback Ludwing Verbena 5th at 125; Zach Hoehn 4th at #133; Hunter Edwards 5th at #157; Sheldon Graves 4th and a wild card at #165; and Cody Carson 4th at #174.
    Nationals will be contested at Des Moines, Iowa Friday and Saturday, February 22 and 23.
