Glenda Pearl Shumway Ellison, 92, died Thursday, Feb. 28, 2013, at Hilltop Manor in Cunningham. She was born Aug. 26, 1920, in rural Preston, the daughter of Glen and Hazel (Leroux) Shumway.

On April 6, 1941, she married Lloyd Ellison in Hutchinson. He died Oct. 15, 2000.

Glenda lived in the Preston area all her life and was a mother and homemaker. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Pratt, and had been active with the Preston United Methodist Church, Preston Senior Citizens, and volunteered with the food commodity program and the Pratt County Historical Museum.

She is survived by children, Janet (Doug) Van Buskirk of Towanda, Michael (Marlene) Ellison of Fruitland, Md., David (Peggy) Ellison of Pratt, Kristi Palone of Wichita, and Cathy (Randy) Krueger of Kechi; two brothers, Dale Shumway of Hutchinson and Merlin Shumway of Pratt; two sisters, Lovara Rein of Johnstone, Colo., and Karen Troyer, Ellinwood; 14 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; a grandson, Curtis Demoret; two sisters, Alma Shumway and Ella Glenn and two brothers, Lloyd and Ronald Shumway.

Visitation will be Sunday from 1 to 8 p.m. and Monday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Larrison Mortuary, 300 Country Club Rd., Pratt, where family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 5, at the mortuary, with Dr. Dan Ferguson presiding. Burial will be in the Pleasant Valley (Geist) Cemetery, Preston.
