  • The third time was not the charm for the Pratt Community College baseball team as they dropped another contest to Barton County on Tuesday, this one a 17-13 slugfest. They have now lost three straight to the Cougars in a series that has been intermittent due to the weather.
This game was frustrating as the Beavers got up big early and could not hold the lead. The Beavers were on top 8-1 after two frames. Pratt’s offense was clicking and Barton was running themselves out of innings in the early going. C Jordan Jones gunned down a Cougar attempting to steal second, and BJ Dean and John Lassiter executed a perfect relay combination to erase a Barton batter trying to stretch a double into a triple.
The Beavers added on in the 3rd, a Jake Siroky RBI double scoring runners from 2nd and 3rd to get the count up to 11-3 PCC. The middle innings proved disastrous for Pratt, however, as they coughed up the big lead—in large part due to the 16 Cougar runners who reached via walks, errors or HPB.
By the 7th  and final inning, the Cougars had fashioned a 16-12 lead. Each team would tally once more in the 7th, with the result being a 17-13 come-from-behind Barton win over the Beavers.
The Beavers fall to 4-8 (2-5 conference). They get one more crack at the Cougars Wed.  at Stanion Field, 4 p.m.
