Bruce Springsteen
The writers of this blog are not music critics, and they don't consider a second (or third, fourth or fifth) mortgage to be a perfectly reasonable course of action to pay for front-row tickets, but despite being a whole lot more middle aged than they were when they first put \x34Born in the U.S.A.\x34 or \x34The River\x34 down on the turntable, still feels like Bruce has something -- OK, a lot of things -- to say about our country and the way we live our lives, things that not a lot of other artists are saying. And whether he's talking about the knife that can cut this pain from your heart, the house that's waiting for you to walk in or what that flag flying over the courthouse means, he's nailing down feelings that are so universal that they can raise your spirits and break your heart at the same time. Plus, let¹s face it, the man rocks.

It’s been a while since our last link roundup, and in that time we’ve had some diametrically opposed scuttlebutt regarding potential fall tour dates for Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band. (And yes, these reports are all real — we’ll leave the April Fools news to backstreets.com.)

On the one side we have charitybuzz.com, which declares “The Wrecking Ball Tour, which will be on a world-wide jaunt from March to August 2013, is coming back to the U.S. this Fall!” And bidding for tickets and backstage access stands at $4,100 with just less than a day left to bid, meaning there’s some rich dudes out there who are banking on this actually happening.

But on the other side we have one Mr. Steven Van Zandt, who told the Bruce Brunch that fall U.S. dates were “very unlikely.”

“That’s a whole another set of commitments,” said Little Steven. “I haven’t heard a word about (a fall tour).” He noted that the Wrecking Ball tour has been going since February,2012 and called the tour, scheduled to go through the summer “enough for now.

Of course, as much as we trust Stevie, he’s not The Boss. Our gut says there will be dates in late summer/early fall … but our gut is notoriously unreliable. It’s a head-scratcher, but as soon as we have the info you’ll be the first to know.
