Dora Dean Banks, 99, passed away April 3, 2013 at Kenwood Plaza, St. John. She was born Nov. 11, 1913, on her grandparents' farm near Penalosa. Her parents were Verlin Ardie and Rosa Sallee Dean.
She was a 1931 graduate of Penalosa High School.
She was united in marriage to F. Earl Banks on Sept. 5, 1936. He preceded her in death on Oct. 22, 1975.
A long time Turon resident, Dora was a member of the Turon Community Church. She was an employee of the Turon State Bank and then the Citizen's Bank of Kansas for many years.
Dora is survived by a son, David (Kay) Banks; a daughter, Linda (Doug) Lamb; three sisters, Delois Beggs, Mary Alyce Jones, and Sue Fate; five granddaughters, Nita (Don) Keenan, Michelle Watt, Kara (Brad) Lock, Tammy Banks (Matt Busche), and Jennifer Banks (Jeff Brown); seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Earl; a son, Nolan Ardie; and a granddaughter Lori Lamb.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 6, at the Turon Community Church with the Rev. Byoung Lee officiating. Burial will be in Lerado Cemetery.
