During a recent Pratt High School Alumni Association's Scholarship program committee meeting, Kenny Gates, president of the group, presented a check to committee treasurer Shirley Lawton for $12,500.

The check was a donation from the PHS class of 1963, of which Gates is a member, for scholarships to be awarded to applicants chosen from the PHS graduating class of 2013. An additional $1,200 was recently received from the '63 alumni to make to total scholarship fund $13,700.

The sole purpose of the Pratt High School Alumni Association is to provide an organization for the collection, and administration of funds for scholarships to graduating PHS seniors who are committed to furthering their education.

The non-profit corporation was formed in 1987. The organizations first scholarships were presented in 1990, and since that date the group has awarded over $155,000 to 35 plus PHS recipients through 2013.
