A one-vehicle rollover accident Monday, May 20 has claimed a second life
A one-vehicle rollover accident Monday on K-61 highway has claimed a second life. Navaeh Smallwood, 5 of Turon, died at Wesley Medical Center from injures suffered in the accident that occurred at 10:18 a.m. on Monday, May 20 on K-61 about mile northeast of Preston.
Also killed in the accident was 2-year-old Craigjohn Vanzandt, also of Turon, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
The accident occurred when Ginny Coates, 27 of Turon, was traveling northeast on K-61 just past 110th Avenue and lost control of a 1996 GMC Jimmy, went off the road on the right then came back on the road and made an evasive maneuver. The vehicle rolled three times and came to rest on its wheels facing north on the right shoulder.
Coates and passenger Jessica Coates, 6 of Turon, were transported to Pratt Regional Medical Center where they were treated and released.
No one was wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident.
