Foot and ankle surgeon Dr. Scott Gordon will join the team at the South Central Kansas Bone and Joint Center in July.
Dr. Gordon is moving to Pratt from Alamogordo, N.M., where he has been completing a year-long lower extremity trauma and reconstruction fellowship. He attended medical school in Glendale, Ariz., where he graduated with honors. Following medical school, he completed three years of surgical residency training at the Carl T Hayden Veterans Hospital in Phoenix, where he served as chief resident. During his time in Phoenix he received training in rear foot and ankle reconstructive surgery with special training in diabetic limb salvage.
"Recruiting and retaining physicians is always a challenge, especially in rural communities," said PRMC President and CEO Susan Page. "We are very blessed to have the complement of physicians we do have in Pratt, and Dr. Gordon will be another excellent addition!"
"When I interviewed at PRMC, I was surprised and impressed by the staff, the facility, and especially the community," Gordon said. "I was blessed to have a rural upbringing and hoped I'd be able to provide the same experiences for my kids. As soon as I arrived in Pratt, it felt like home. It was an easy decision to make."
Dr. Gordon attended Northern Arizona University where he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in biology. Throughout his experience and training, Dr. Gordon has actively performed research in his field of medicine and is a published author in medical journals. He has also developed a particular passion for surgery and strives constantly to perfect his techniques as well as further his education, understanding and expertise.
Aside from science and medicine, Dr. Gordon enjoys driving, fixing and restoring automobiles. He stays physically active through running and has completed a triathlon. Dr. Gordon volunteers time on a regular basis at church and as a leader in the Boy Scouts. He also loves spending time with his wife and five children.
