  • The 5.4.7 Arts Center will present an exhibit of Topeka, Kan., painter Cally Krallman's work July 6 through Aug. 18. The exhibit opened in conjunction with the 5.4.7 Arts Center's fifth birthday celebrations on July 6.
Cally Krallman has a Bachelors in Fine Arts from Washburn University and has been painting the Kansas landscape for over 25 years. She has exhibited in over 25 galleries in the Midwest and has been featured in publications such as PleinAir Magazine and Kansas! Magazine.
"I have been painting in the Midwest, primarily Kansas, for over 25 years. I have traveled to many places throughout the world but I am still drawn to the simplistic beauty of Kansas. Many people think of Kansas as just a flat agricultural state, but in fact it is full of wonderful hills, tree lined rivers and creeks, and other unique land formations. The sunrises and sunsets are breathtaking and calming at the same time. Our four seasons create a myriad of colors worthy of any artists' palette.
Any artist can see the grandeur of the great mountains and oceans, but to find beauty in the simplest of rocky plains, tall native grasses, back roads, meandering creeks, and fields of grain takes someone who loves the region...loves the plains," said Krallman about her work.
The 5.4.7 Arts Center is a non-profit community arts center that strives to provide opportunities in the arts to the community through exhibits, classes and performances. As the first LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Platinum building in Kansas, this unique piece of architecture is a work of art in itself. The 5.4.7 Arts Center is open Wednesday through Saturday 1-6pm. For more information, email Stacy Barnes, sbarnes@547artscenter.org or call 620.723.2600.
