  • The August rains were indeed a blessing for so many! However, for our building project, the rains did put us a little behind schedule, but we are in full swing to get back on track with the warm, dry weather now upon us. North of the hospital you can now see the full outline of the new patient wing addition, and groundwork also continues in front on the new entrance, three-story addition, and the boiler room. We are excited about the progress and continue to be thankful for our community's support.
We are also excited about the addition of three new physicians to our medical staff and community. I am hoping you had a chance to meet them and their families at our reception this week. I was pleased to see the interview by Carol Bronson with our new internist, Dr. Racheal Hauser, who was raised in Medicine Lodge. When asked about why she chose Pratt, Dr. Hauser commented on the good number of medical providers we have here full time, and that "It's a strong, strong medical community." I feel the same way! For a community the size of Pratt, we are so fortunate to have the complement of primary care providers and specialists that we do.
Granted, we don't have some specialists that you may think we need. I can assure you that the PRMC board and staff keep foremost in our minds what our community wants to see regarding the provision of healthcare in Pratt, and what we can reasonably accomplish. Our board, physicians, and leadership recently spent many hours reviewing and updating our strategic plan, and I look forward to sharing information about that process in my next column, after the board has approved it at their September meeting.
My door is always open, and I encourage you to contact me at any time with your thoughts.
Susan Page is president and CEO of Pratt Regional Medical Center.
