Three Pratt High students won the Pratt County Conservation District Speech Contest on Thursday, Oct. 10th. Sophomore Katie Buhler came in first place, winning a $300 scholarship with her speech about "Soil to Spoon" and its emphasis on how both farmers and the average household can conserve resources through efficient farming and gardening.

Receiving second was freshman Ciara Hodgkinson who talked about her family farm and how her family works to maintain their land. In third place was sophomore David Schotte, discussing the history of the Soil Conservation Service and its importance in protecting farmland and soil.

On Oct. 17th, Buhler will proceed to the area contest for a chance at state and at winning further scholarships.
