The Pratt Community College men’s soccer team picked up their third win of the season, defeating the visiting Independence Pirates 3-1.
Early on, the Beavers took advantage of the stiff north breeze, keeping the ball in the Pirates end of the pitch until Manuel Miranda-Cortez sent a spectacular header to the back of the net to give Pratt control of the game.
PCC moves to 3-9-0 on the season (2-6-0 in the Jayhawk) with the victory.
In the opener, the Lady Beavers saw their two-game winning streak come to an end as they were edged by the Lady Pirates 1-0 in a low-scoring affair. Their record drops to 3-10-1 (2-7-1).
Both Beaver squads will travel to Barton County Saturday before hosting a pair of games next week to wind up the regular season.
