Dear Editor of Pratt Newspaper,

I have been noticing for a long time now how girls dress and the effects it has on boys/men. So here is what I would like to say to all the girls and women out there...GIRLS/WOMEN: PLEASE dress modestly. I am a mother of 3 boys (and 1 girl) and I have taught them to respect girls but I ask you, how are they suppose to treat you with respect when you dress with low cut tops that shows your cleavage and other parts of your upper chest area, your belly showing, tight fitting shirts that show every bit of

curves you may or may not have or short skirts? Just FYI: it is NOT attractive AT ALL like you may think. The only thing that it attracts by dressing this way are guys who only want ONE thing and THAT is the kind of guy you DO NOT want. And the guys who are trying to be respectful and godly, it makes it very awkward for them. So please, for your sake and the sake of your fellow brothers in Christ and male gender, please dress modestly.

You may say that I sound judgmental, but I am just making an observation. Yes, guys should also show respect to girls/women by keeping their eyes on her eyes and not "gazing" upon the rest of her body. It can be frustrating to teach our kids purity and have to watch them be tempted in this world. I will also agree it is a "heart issue" and "decency issue" with both girls and guys to respect themselves enough to not dress in an inappropriate manner or look at the opposite sex with lust.

One of the things that girls may not realize by dressing this way is that it tells the opposite sex that you are "selling yourself" and that you are "defrauding" who you are. I believe that most girls REALLY don't want to "sell" anything they have; unfortunately, the world tells them this is the way to dress. If we can teach our children the value of Self Respect and keeping private that which should be private, then maybe the temptation wouldn't be so great.
