  • About 40 golfers took to the links over the weekend to contest the annual Pratt County Golf Tournament. After 36 holes of fierce yet friendly competition, Lynn Perez emerged as County Champion for 2013—narrowly edging Steve Orlando who also had a two-day score of 150. Perez was awarded the coveted and prestigious County Championship off the card by virtue of his birdie-ing #7 at Park Hills on Sunday (the #1 handicap hole at Park Hills.)
As usual, any golfer residing in Pratt County was eligible to participate. 18 holes were played at Green Valley on Saturday, then 18 holes were played at Park Hills on Sunday. The tournament was flighted so as to thwart golfers like The Hack, who shot 76 at Park Hills after a horrible score at Green Valley. Tournament officials refused to be fooled by such obvious sandbagging— flighting the tourney on 36-hole scores.
The courses were in good shape for late October and the weather ranged from decent on Saturday to spectacular on Sunday. Several golfers commented that playing conditions could not have been better for a tournament being held so late in the season.
