  • The Skyline Thunderbirds crosscountry teams each came up just a bit short at the 2A Meade regional on Saturday. Both teams took 4th in their respective divisions, with just the top three teams from each regional advancing to State. There are approximately 16 schools assigned to each regional.
However, Brooke Fisher and Roman Ibarra did each earn their way to Wamego as individuals.
Fisher was 6th in the girls race at 17:08. Other Thunderbird finishers were: 34 Madalyn Owens; 38 Kadi Richardson 21:14; 39 Ascha Lee; 50 Briana Neifert 30:45.
Skyline’s girls had 89 points to finish behind Ellinwood 27, Stanton County 46 and South Central 79.
    Ibarra was 7th in the boys race at 17:43. Other T-Bird finishers were: 16 Tony Ibarra 18:36; 27 Lucas Cason 19:22; 29 Colin Kumberg 19:32; 40 Khaleb Cason 20:37; 56 Jared Shriver 21:35; 62 Garrett Bell 22:07.
The boys 120 points was 4th behind Ellinwood 58, Leoti 84 and Elkhart 120.
This won’t be Fisher or Ibarra’s first trip to the rodeo, so to speak. Fisher has also previously attended  as part of the girls team. Ibarra went as an individual last year, and was the highest finishing freshman in 2A.
