Not much has changed in terms of the expected timing of the approaching cold front... meteorologists are still talking about rain chances starting tonight and increasing on Thursday, with a changeover to a "wintry mix" sometime Thursday evening/night.

What has changed is that forecasters are now discussing ice accumulations as that precipitation makes the crossover from nice, friendly rain to treacherous, freezing rain. At the moment, accumulations of up to one-tenth of an inch of ice are expected between Thursday night/Friday morning, which could produce hazardous driving conditions, especially on elevated surfaces (bridges, overpasses...).

As an added wrinkle, expect the wind chills to drop into the low teens during the overnight hours between Thursday and Sunday.
