  • It wasn't as easy this time on the Larks' home floor, but the Pratt Community College women's basketball team did succeed in again downing Hesston College Wednesday night. The Lady Beavers had drubbed the Lady Larks 84-62 back in early November. This go-round, Hesston put up more of a fight, only falling to the Beavers 72-65. One thing hampering the Beavers' effort was an uncharacteristically cold night from the charity stripe. PCC only sank 17 of 32 free throw attempts. Also, only 1 of 9 long balls found the bottom of the net. However, the PCC women's bread-and-butter is creating good shots with their offense and in transition, and the Lady Beavers did still hit on 45% of their field goals which enabled them to overcome their tepid shooting from the line and the arc. Another key to the win was backboard dominance. PCC outrebounded the Lady Larks 41- 28. 16 of Pratt's rebounds were of the offensive variety. Elle Stein led the Beavers on the glass with 11 caroms. Combined with her 12 points, that gave Stein a double-double on the night. The win improves PCC's record to 11-2 on the year. The Lady Beavers final pre-holiday contest is on the road, Monday against Cowley County at Newman University, 7 p.m.
