  • On July 17th, the Pratt Recreation Department wound up the 2014 season on the diamonds with its annual 9/10-year-old All-Star game. Players, 12 per team, were selected from the Pratt Rec 9/10 year-old summer teams. Teams were coached by coaches from the league.
The rules were opened up a little bit more than regular league play. Steals were allowed, there was no run-rule-per-inning enforced and dropped third strikes were a live ball. The fence was moved in to 150’ and a full six-inning game was played with no time limit.
The Red team plated 8 runs in their first at-bat to seize control of the game, and never relinquished it. Trailing 14-11 in the top of the 6th, the Blue team tried to rally, but could only push one run across, and the Red Team was able to hang on for a 14-12 win.
Pratt Rec personnel Dakota Jones and Hayden Pixler did the PA announcing and Justin Crouch and Quentin Motte were the umpires for the game. The game was played under the auspices of the Hap Dumont sportsmanship code, and a good time was had by all.
