Scripture:  Hebrews (NIV) 12:5 And you have forgotten that word of encouragement that addresses you as sons: “My son, do not make light of the Lord's discipline, and do not lose heart when he rebukes you, 6 because the Lord disciplines those he loves, and he punishes everyone he accepts as a son.” 7 Endure hardship as discipline; God is treating you as sons. For what son is not disciplined by his father?

Observation:   Someone said, God loves me just the way I am, but He loves me too much to let me stay that way.   He loves us as his children.   We understand a father desires the best for his children.   He loves them and wants to see them succeed.   He teaches and trains them to be prepared for what they will face in life.

Application:   My claim to be God's child, obviously implies I expect God to treat me as my Father.   I want Him to use His wisdom and understanding of the future to prepare me for fruitful service.   My future is not as long as it once was.   Yet He is still working on me.   May His work in me bring Him much glory.

Prayer:     Heavenly Father, with your skillful loving hands, continue to shape me for even more future fruitful ministry. Amen
