November 8, 2017: SOAP #2897:  Job 33, 1Corinthians 1-3

Scripture:  1Corinthians (NIV) 2:14 The man without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned. 15 The spiritual man makes judgments about all things, but he himself is not subject to any man's judgment: 16 “For who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct him?” But we have the mind of Christ.

Observation:   Life is a series of decisions.   When we are young, decisions are made for us.   As we grow, we learn to make our own decisions.  We learn to choose future benefit over temporary present pleasure.   Maturity is reaching a level where we can make good decisions.

What is true in our natural life, God desires to become true in our spiritual lives.

Application:   I am finding the key to making 'judgments about all things' is to depend on the indwelling Holy Spirit.   As I grow in understanding of God's Word, and hone my listening skills to hear what the Holy Spirit says to me I make better decisions.   At times His direction is different than what seems obvious at first, but I have found that His decisions always work out for good.

Prayer:     Holy Spirit, I depend on you for guidance.   Your wisdom far exceeds my understanding.   I trust you.   Amen
