September 8, 2018: SOAP #3201:  Jeremiah 42-44; Psalm 48; Revelation 13

Scripture:  Psalm (NIV) 48:12 Walk about Zion; go around her; count her towers; 13 consider well her ramparts; view her citadels; that you may tell of them to the next generation. 14 For this God is our God for ever and ever; he will be our guide even to the end.

Observation:   The psalmist is telling people to walk around the city of Zion (Jerusalem).   As they do, they should take note of the way it was built, of the battles that were fought to make that city their capital.   They should take note of the high points of the city's history.   Then they should make sure the next generation understands what God has done in the past.   The God who helped them in the past, will always be their God.   He will always be with them to guide them and help them.

Application:   I need to make sure that the next generation can recall what God has done in the past.   I need to consider what God has done.   I need to think about it.   I need to pass it on to the next generation.   God will be my guide; God will be their guide!   They need to know that 'this God is our God.'

Prayer:      Holy Spirit, make me wise in sharing the memories of God's blessings with the next generation.   Make me wise in sharing just who you are!   Anoint me to speak clearly, I pray. Amen
