The Skyline High School volleyball team traveled to Attica Saturday for the Heart of the Plains League tournament. The Lady Thunderbirds were able to put some good runs together but ended the day with only one set win. They lost matches to Stafford, Pretty Prairie, Cunningham and Fairfield.

Stafford took the match 2-1 with a 25-20 third set. In their second match, Skyline faced Pretty Prairie. The Lady Bulldogs brought in a big, aggressive team. Skyline dropped the first set 25-8 and the second set 25-18, falling in just two. Cunningham also bested the Lady Thunderbirds in two. Skyline started slow, giving up the first set 25-6. They were able to put a few runs together in the second but still fell 25-17. They closed the day losing a two set match to Fairfield, 25-15, 25-17.

"We had some really good moments this weekend, but couldn't find the consistency we need to come out with a win," head coach Kathryn McAllister said. "We're looking forward to a rematch against Macksville and Pretty Prairie tomorrow night and will hopefully go into sub state with two more wins."

The Lady Thunderbirds will play in a triangular with Macksville and Pretty Prairie tonight. The Mustangs are hosting and matches will start at 6 p.m.
