MOUNDRIDGE — Leading 38-29 entering the fourth quarter, the Moundridge High boys basketball team was on their way to an easy victory.
And while the Wildcats did hang on for a 51-48 victory, it was too close for comfort for Moundridge head coach Vance Unrau.
“A comfortable lead again turned into having to make free throws down the stretch to preserve the win,” Unrau said. “We had to go zone late in the game because we couldn’t stop dribble penetration. We sent them to the line way too much and they cashed in shooting 73 percent from the line. Too many turnovers late didn’t help ourselves any either. But we did battle though a lot of sickness. I think everyone on the team has been sick and still not feeling up to par or played tonight a little under the weather. But we will take the win and get healthy.”
Anthony Otte had the hot hand scoring 25 points on 8 of 14 shooting. Noah Eichelberger pitched in with 10.
Next up for Moundridge is the Adolph Rupp Classic on Tuesday in Halstead.
