PRATT — Floyd Hatfield, 85, retired United States Air Force Missile Maintenance Controller and Retired USD 382 Director of Transportation and Maintenance, passed away peacefully Tuesday, October 31, 2017 at his home in Pratt.  He was born March 25, 1932 in Cardin, Oklahoma to Orvel and Marie (McAfee) Hatfield. He was raised in Pitcher, Oklahoma, graduated in 1951 and joined the Air Force the following year.  After training, he was stationed in Korea then transferred to Salina, Kansas at Schilling Air Force Base where he met Lyola Fischer. They were married in 1957.  They were stationed at McConnell Air Force Base in Wichita where Cathy, Jeff and Lori were born.  They then transferred to Cheyenne, Wyoming where their son, Dennis, was born.  Later they transferred to Great Falls, Montana where he was active in Scouts as a Webelos leader and baseball coach.  After that they moved to Vandenburg Air Force Base in California where he was active in sports and scouts. From there they moved to Grand Forks, North Dakota for a year until he retired in 1972 and moved to Pratt. He was also active in coaching baseball.

He then became employed by USD 382. After 20 years he retired and became busy with construction, remodeling many homes, active as a designer, builder, electrician and plumber. He enjoyed fishing at the trout pond and received a Master Angler Award. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, BPOE Elks, American Legion and volunteered at Pratt Regional Medical Center.

He is survived by his wife, Lyola of 60 years; children, Cathy (Steve) Pauscher of Wichita, Jeff Hatfield of Chanute, Lori (Mark) Davis of Westlake, Ohio and Dennis (Melissa) Hatfield of Kansas City, Missouri; twelve grandchildren; six great grandchildren; brother, Robert (Kay) Hatfield of Miami, Oklahoma; and sister in-law, Roberta Hatfield of Peculiar, Missouri.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Orvel and Marie and brothers, Lawrence (Susie) Hatfield and Orvel Hatfield.

Visitation will be Thursday from 9:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. and Friday from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. at Larrison Mortuary, 300 Country Club Road, Pratt.  Family will receive friends Thursday from 5-7 p.m. Vigil and Rosary Service will be at 7:00 p.m., Friday, November 3, 2017 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.  Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, November 4, 2017 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Pratt with Father Michael Klag presiding.  Burial with military honors will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery, Pratt.
