Sean Pilger, 19 of Pratt, was injured in a two-vehicle accident east of Pratt on U.S. 54 at the SE 25th Avenue intersection.
A Pratt man was injured following a two-vehicle accident just east of Pratt on March 7.
Sean Pilger, 19 of Pratt, was injured in the accident on U.S. 54 at the intersection of SE 25th Avenue.
The accident occurred when Jose Cortez, 24 of Ulysses was eastbound on U.S. 54 in a 2014 Ford Fusion and attempted to make a U-Turn at the intersection at SE 25th Avenue. An eastbound 2017 Freightliner semi, driven by 58-year-old Jon Huckins of Wichita attempted to avoid the Fusion but the vehicles collided in the intersection, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol on-line crash log.
Pratt County EMS transported Cortez and his passenger Pilger to Pratt Regional Medical Center. Pilger was later transported, by helicopter, to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. Huckins was not injured in the accident. Cortez, Pilger and Huckins were all wearing seat belts at the time of the accident that was reported at 5:42 p.m.
An updated report from PRMC listed Cortez as treated and released on Wednesday while Pilger remains at Wesley in critical condition as of Thursday afternoon, March 8.
