Head coach, Jamie Cruce said there are some small details to work on during practice but overall the team played well for the first game of the season.
"Our players were focused and able to make in-game adjustments--The enthusiasm was contagious on the sideline," Cruce said. "Hats off to the players for being great teammates."
With the Greenbacks so far ahead in points throughout the night, Cruce said it was a good opportunity for the younger players to get some field time. "It was great to see our younger players come into the game in the second half and get some valuable game experience," Cruce said. "We look forward to a great week of practice as we prepare for a difficult Halstead team." Senior quarterback and inside backer, Travis Theis, also said it went well for the first game of the season. "A lot of good things from our guys on both sides of the ball," Theis said. "[The] best thing is [that] we have a ton of room for improvement. Chemistry between all positions is key." The Greenbacks will have their first home game next Friday, September 7, against Halstead.
