Prattan Tim Barker has withdrawn from the race for Rep. Jerry Moran’s First Congressional seat. Barker cites family obligations for his action.

“There’s just no way I can campaign at this time. There’s a time and place for everything and it became apparent that now is not the time,” Barker said. “They’ll be lots of campaigns and lots of elections but just one time to spend with my family.”

Barker said he had a great experience and was well received everywhere he went.

“The community really stood behind me and I’m so grateful for that,” Barker said.

Barker is not endorsing any other candidate at this time but encourages the public to get to know each candidate and make an informed decision.

Barker has no plans at this time to run again but has left the future open.

“I do have the desire and willingness to serve when and if the time arises,” Barker said.

Barker is married to Kelli and they have three children Kaden, 5, Jack, 2, and Kyler, 9 months.
Barker’s withdrawal leaves six candidates, all Republicans, in the race for Moran’s congressional seat. The other candidates are State Sen. Tim Huelskamp, State Sen. Jim Barnett, Sue Boldra, Traci Mann, Rob Wasinger and Monte Shadwick, then newest candidate for the office.
