    • Broken gas line, ditch fire keep city and township firefighters busy

    • On Saturday, A pickup hit a gas meter at 506 West Fifth and broke off a pipe forcing an evacuation of homes immediately to the north of the alley. Pratt Firefighters got the gas shut off at the meter but more was detected leaking under ground. Kansas Gas Service got the problem solved with no injuries and no fire. On Sunday, Township 12 firefighters were called to spray down hot spots on a very small grass fire across the highway from Pratt Community College. Fireworks were the suspected cause of the fire that burned a very small parcel of grass.
