SEDGWICK — The Sedgwick High School baseball team claimed a 9-4 win over Chaparral Monday in the Class 3A regional tournament in Sedgwick.
The Cardinals took a 4-2 lead, putting things away with five runs in the bottom of the fourth. Chaparral added two runs in the top of the fifth.
Brayden Francis had two hits and three RBIs for Sedgwick. Mason Lacey added two RBIs. Drake Whealy had two hits for Chaparral.
Andrew Hoffsommer went 4 2-3 innings for Sedgwick, striking out six. Neal Bever finished the game.
Jarrett Shelton struck out five for Chaparral, followed by Andrew Clark with four.
Sedgwick, 9-8, takes on top-seeded Wichita Independent at 2 p.m. Thursday in the semifinals. Chaparral ends the season 9-10.

WHITEWATER — The Remington Broncos baseball team saw its tenure as Class 3A state runner-up come to an end with a 4-2 loss to Hillsboro—Peabody-Burns in eight innings Monday in regional play in Whitewater.
Remington took the lead with a run in the bottom of the first inning and another in the third. Hillsboro scored a run in the fifth, a run in the sixth and two in the eighth.
Remington was hampered by five errors to two for the Trojans.
Braden Vogt struck out 11 in eight innings for the win. Remington’s Coleton Crisp struck out 12 in a complete-game loss.
Kaden Kleiner, Bryant Young and Caleb Potucek each had two hits for Hillsboro.
Hillsboro, 6-15, takes on rival Marion-Centre at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Gypsum in the semifinals. Remington ends its third season of play 6-13.
