Some Skyline thinclads were able to break into medals at Ellinwood last week.

The Ellinwood track meet proved to be a tough one for the Skyline squads, the boys finishing 6th and the girls 7th in the 8-team meet.

The boys division was a thriller, coming down to the 4x400 relay. SE of Saline took first with 112 points, but Sterling 111 and Ellsworth 110 certainly made things interesting.

Sterling's girls won handily with 125.

Four Thunderbirds placed in two individual events on the boys side:

Zack Urban shot put 1st 43'7.5 and 2nd in discus 118'6

Carson Lee discus 3rd 113'2 and javelin 6th 144'1

Jackson Wallace 1600m 2nd 4:58 and 3200m 3rd 11:01

Brock Montgomery 110HH 4th 18.1 and 300mH 7th 48.03

Other individual placers for Skyline boys included:

Mark Schmidt high jump T7 5'4

Eliazar Carrasco long jump 4th 19'10.5

Cade Swonger 200m 3rd 23.79

The T-Birds relay teams each placed:

4x100 2nd 45.90

4x400 6th 3:52

4x800 4th 8:55

Double-placers among the Thunderbird girls were:

Sydney Koirth shot put 4th 33'5.5 and 100m 4th 13.4

Madison Tyler 400m 2nd 63.96 and 800m 4th 2:45

Madison Adams T3 in high jump at 4'0; Mackenzie Wright was 8th in discus 76'2; Katelynn McGraw took 6th in 100m 13.96 and Kayla Flora was 5th at 400m 69.09.

The Lady T-Birds also captured silver in the 4x100 relay.

"They have a fast track in Ellinwood and kids took advantage, improving their times on the track again," SHS head track coach Andrew Nation said. "We are looking forward to league Thursday."

Ellinwoo was the Skyline thinclads' final outing of the regular season. They will compete in the HOPL meet Thursday at Burrton with field events starting at 3 p.m.
